NEWS: Congratulations to
Haze Islands and
Charles Ward for winning
2016 Print and Play Game of the Year, and managed to sweep nearly all of the main categories! Also, congratulations to
Justin Blaske for a fantastic showing with
Mint Works the overall highest rated game and winner of the
Best Beyond PnP Game as well as
Best Written Rules. I also want to extend congratulations to all the Runner Ups in all the categories. There were a number of categories that were very close
There were a ton of great games entered this year and I hope that next year the contest continues to grow. I put a lot of work into building these pages for the contest and designing an algorithm that would be fair to all games, whether they got a lot of ratings or a few. I'm happy to say that the algorithm produced results in line with my expectations after seeing all the ratings, and Haze Islands is definitely deserving of its recognition. If you would like to see an aggregate of all the ratings, I'm making the
Ratings Summary Report public. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments on the awards. I will be in touch with the winners to distribute prizes soon. Again, congratulations and thank you for making the inaugural PnP Game Design Awards such a success!
Prizes
Geek Gold donated to the main contest thread or GeekList will be divided equally amongst the main categories, with the Best Overall Game counting as two categories. Any Geek Gold donated to each category's individual post will be added to that category's total Geek Gold. Geek Gold will then be distributed to each category's winners and Runners Up in approximately a 60/10/10/10/10 ratio. Ties in a category will have that award divided evenly amongst the winners, any remainder will be applied to the winner of that category, and any remainder from ties in that category will go to the overall winner. Non-main categories (e.g. Best New Game, Best Beyone PnP, etc.) will be treated as a single category and the amount from that category will be divided amongst the winners.
Winners and Runners Up in each main category will receive the right to use a special emblem graphic in any packaging, information, or marketing materials for their game design.
We are looking for additional sponsorships of prizes. If you would like to donate a prize for this contest, or have ideas for prizes beyond Geek Gold, please Contact Us.
