NEWS: Congratulations to
Haze Islands and
Charles Ward for winning
2016 Print and Play Game of the Year, and managed to sweep nearly all of the main categories! Also, congratulations to
Justin Blaske for a fantastic showing with
Mint Works the overall highest rated game and winner of the
Best Beyond PnP Game as well as
Best Written Rules. I also want to extend congratulations to all the Runner Ups in all the categories. There were a number of categories that were very close
There were a ton of great games entered this year and I hope that next year the contest continues to grow. I put a lot of work into building these pages for the contest and designing an algorithm that would be fair to all games, whether they got a lot of ratings or a few. I'm happy to say that the algorithm produced results in line with my expectations after seeing all the ratings, and Haze Islands is definitely deserving of its recognition. If you would like to see an aggregate of all the ratings, I'm making the
Ratings Summary Report public. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments on the awards. I will be in touch with the winners to distribute prizes soon. Again, congratulations and thank you for making the inaugural PnP Game Design Awards such a success!
ELIGIBILITY
The games eligible to be entered must be:
- Freely available PnP games. *
- Have had active development during the year prior to the current contest [2016].
- Currently have a WIP thread. **
Although there is no limit to the number of entries a designer can enter, you must enter your games if and when you think they are ready, as you will not be able to make any changes for the duration of the contest.
* Games entered into this and other board game design contest, or made publicly available prior to this contest are eligible. Games can and should be improved upon from the time they were entered into a prior contest. Indecent, inappropriate, unauthorized, or illegal games are not eligible.
** The WIP thread must be on BGG either documenting the game design, improvements, files, etc, or simply pointing towards a similar WIP thread outside of BBG. The BGG WIP forum is available here: https://boardgamegeek.com/forum/1530033/boardgamegeek/works-progress
